6th Blogoversary

First Header (2011) designed by Ann from Zoolatry

Can you believe we've been blogging with Sweet Purrfections for 6 years!?! Our first blog post was July 12, 2011 and Mom Paula introduced two litters of kittens where a future kitty would be coming to live with her. She'd been blogging with Sweet Praline for 3 years and after losing her in April 2011 to cancer, she continued the blog with special memory posts for an additional month. She decided she wanted a fresh start with a new blog that didn't feature the name of the cat(s) in the title. We explained the process for deciding the name of the blog on our 4th blogoversary post.  By the end of Summer 2011, it was decided that two kittens would come to live with Mom Paula.

Truffle and Brulee both at six weeks old.  This was the age they chose to come live with Mom Paula

Mom Paula:  I remember seeing photos of the kittens from the day they were born and shared them with our blogging friends up until the day the girls came to live with me.  I was able to visit each litter of kittens at approximately 6-7 weeks of age to see which one would choose me.  The photos above were sent to me prior to my traveling to Mt. Pleasant, SC for that exciting day.  I'll share more about their Gotcha Days in September and November.  Truffle, Beignet (RIP), and Brulee are the heart and soul of Sweet Purrfections.

We've come a long way over these past six years. As of today, we've posted 2,193 days in a row! We've become involved in social media and have our own Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Google+ accounts. There is usually a post of some type on our Facebook account every day. One of our goals is to increase our engagement on Instagram and Twitter this year. Mom Paula wants to get some training on developing better videos and hope to include more in future posts.

6th Blogoversary Portraits

When our blog began in 2011, we weren't living with Mom Paula yet. Truffle was about 7 weeks old and Brulee hadn't been born yet.  Mom Paula had lost Sweet Praline in April 2011 and wanted more Persians in her life and wanted more than one. Originally, the two kittens were going to be Truffle and Beignet, but Beignet went to the Rainbow Bridge about 6 weeks later (more about that next month).Truffle was born in June 2011 and came to live with Mom Paula in September 2011. Brulee became part of the family when she was born in August 2011 and selected in October 2011.

We've become more involved as influencers for pet products, especially those specifically designed for cats during the past six years. We've hosted 44 giveaways and reviewed hundreds of products. Mom Paula is a member of BlogPaws (BlogPaws Influencer) and a professional member of the Cat Writers Association (Council of Directors member). She's attended three BlogPaws Conferences (Nashville, Phoenix, Myrtle Beach) and was an Ambassador for the 2017 Conference in Myrtle Beach. In addition, she's attended two BarkWorld Conferences and was a member of the media at two Global Pet Expos.  Mom Paula retired March 31, 2017 and is slowly adjusting to a new life. Once she purges and reorganizes the house, she plans on taking some classes at the local colleges and universities in photography, graphic design, SEO, PhotoShop, and others to improve her social media skills.  She's lucky that there is a law that allows people over 61 in South Carolina where they can take courses at the state institutions free!

We've published four cat blogging calendars and are currently working on the 5th for 2018. These calendars include full color photos of blogging cats from around the world with a weekly planner with special holidays and celebrations for cats and pets. If you blog and have a cat that is featured on your blog (the blog can include dogs, but we feature cats in the calendar), please consider submitting photos for the calendar. You can find more information on the CB Cat Calendar website. There is a link on our sidebar to take you to the website.

We plan on more changes to the blog in the future. We are going to include some research-based articles, more reviews and giveaways, and include more videos. Our main goal will always be to share photos and stories of our daily lives with you and hopefully, bring a smile to your face and happy thoughts when you visit us. We'll continue to be the Southern Sweet and Sassy ladies from South Carolina!
